چکیده
Purpose: To describe the case of a 21-year-old patient with uveal effusion with no microphthalmia and any systemic disease that was treated with scleral window surgery and topical administration of mitomycin C (MMC) and zonulysis which was misdiagnose as a ring melanoma of cilliary body appeared shortly after the operation Case report: A uveal effusion was detected in the eye. Partial-thickness scleral flap with sclerostomy was performed and topical MMC was administered to inferotemporal quadrant of the equatorial sclera. The subretinal fluid resorbed gradually. In a short period after fenestration procedure and temporal zonulysis appeared in the eye. Conclusion: In a patient with idiopathic uveal effusion syndrome, a significant zonulysis without severe intraocular pressure (IOP) changes can appear after scleral fenestration procedure.

Ring melanoma--a rare cause of refractory glaucoma.
BACKGROUND Ring melanoma of the ciliary body and iris is extremely rare and often has adverse histology. This tumour may cause raised intraocular pressure. METHODS A review of four cases of ring melanomas with insidious presentations seen in the ocular oncology service over a 12 month period. RESULTS All four patients presented with unilateral anterior segment abnormalities and refractory g...
متن کاملCiliary body melanoma - a particularly rare type of ocular tumor. Case report and general considerations.
ABSTRACT Uveal melanoma is the most common primary malignancy of the eye in white adults. Frequently, uveal melanoma arises from choroid or iris. Ciliary body melanoma is a rare if not exceptional subtype of uveal melanoma. Furthermore, ciliary melanoma is often seen in association with the other two subtypes of uveal melanoma. This paper presents a case of primary ciliary melanoma with invasio...

AIMS To define a retinoinvasive phenotype of uveal melanoma based on an informative case and survey of literature. METHODS A 65-year-old woman developed a circumscribed mixed cell type melanoma of the ciliary body that was locally excised. After 6 years, secondary glaucoma evolved. Three years later a ring melanoma was diagnosed and the eye was enucleated. The histopathological material was a...

Purpose The most common malignant intraocular tumors with a high mortality in adults are uveal melanomas. Uveal melanomas arise most frequently in the choroid or ciliary body (97%) and rarely in the iris (3%). Whereas conjunctival and posterior uveal (ciliary body and choroidal) melanomas have been studied in more detail genetically, little data exist regarding iris melanomas. Methods In our ...

Bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic hyperplasia (BDUMH) is a rare but well known paraneoplastic syndrome,' associated with systemic malignancy. An essential feature of this syndrome is a preponderantly benign looking cytology of the melanocytic tumours.' We describe the clinical and histopathological features ofBDUMH with active proliferation and bilateral ciliary body malignant melanomas. The ...
